The Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority has presented a cheque of K20,000 to help the Enga show committee to host the 24th Enga Cultural Show from Aug 10 to 14.
Chief executive Jerry Agus said the assistance was their token of appreciation to the committee for their efforts in promoting tourism in the country.
“In tourism, everyone talks about the potentials we have in the country but when it comes to putting resources and commitment into making things happen, nothing happens,” he said.
Agus said potentials such as the traditional and cultural diversity were not being fully used by the people and were slowly dying out.
“Things like cultural shows are needed to attract foreign tourists to see all these things and when they come they bring with them financial advantage to invest in our economy,” he said.
