THE PNG Trade Union Congress is staying out of the debate over the State’s K3 billion loan, general-secretary John Paska says.
Pasksa said this was because claims of impropriety have not been substantiated and most of what was discussed were based on allegations.
“PNGTUC has sighted no evidence or facts to support claims of impropriety,” he said.
“We have asked those claiming impropriety to come forward with evidence and to date no one has.”
He said critics should be focusing on matters relating to business transaction.
“For instance, questions relating to risks, return on investment, market availability and penetration, price volatility and fluctuations, competitions socio-economic benefits and so forth,” he said.
Paska has urged all workers, non-government organisations and civil societies to stay out of any demonstrations.
He said there were many competitors in the business industry who often missed out on stakes in projects worth millions.
“Often they manipulate the public and particularly NGOs and students to support their cause when they miss out on lucrative deals. NGOs and students must not allow themselves to be manipulated.”
