TRADITIONALLY-built guest houses will be marketed online to promote the tourism industry and sell the guest houses globally, the Tourism Promotion Authority’s (TPA) says.

The TPA division is partnering private tourism promoter village huts to sell local guest houses on the world market.

According to TPA’s marketing division, the cost of marketing will be subsidised and recipients provided technical expertise to improve areas of accommodation after meeting criterion.

Marketing director Leith Isaac has identified five accommodation categories, including the traditional and informal, which included stays in the villages and eco lodges.

A common lodging facility with a separate house will be built purposely for visitors.

Isaac said there would also be lodging and dining for guest who pays for the service and a separate guest toilet and shower facility.

He said guests were given the option to cook, have access to tea and coffee making facilities, TV and phone.

Isaac said the other category was the backpackers/budget lodging similar to a guesthouse, which is a dormitory type with bunkers.
