Training centre opens for various diploma, certificate programmes

THE Commercial Training Centre (CTC) in East New Britain (ENB) has now opened its doors for various diploma and certificate programmes, including short courses for working-class people.
The school is located at the old ANZ bank building in Vunapope.
This year, there will be three categories of programmes on offer at the centre starting with diploma programmes, structured certificates on the Fode (flexible, open distance edcuation) study programme, integrated certificate programmes and industrial certificate study programme.
CTC Kokopo centre director and senior business studies tutor Greg Sonu said the programmes had been set for this year with registration now taking place at the Vunapope centre.
He said 20 students registered so far and another 20 were expected.
Sonu said there were various courses they offered ranging from business accounting to business computing technology ict, including small-medium enterprise and tourism hospitality and catering.
The establishment of the training centre started in Rabaul in 2006.
It has seen its students enter into various businesses and State agencies. “This year marks the 15 years of its operation in the province and Commercial Training Centre is growing despite competition from other private schools,” Sonu said.
“As a privately-run institution, we urge parents and guardians of grade 10 and grade 12 students who cannot continue on with their formal education, they can be rest assured that the Commercial Training Centre is giving them the second chance in life,” Sonu said.
He said interested students or working class people who wanted to enrol come into their office located at Vunapope above H3 building.
