Training for teachers

Letters

IT has come to our attention that teachers will be having their in-service courses during week one of term four, which is the first of its kind in a long time.
A cluster in the Huon district inspectorate agreed in their head teachers’ meeting to run night sessions as well with accommodation arranged because too many topics would be covered. I partly agree with their solution, but have they considered the other side of the coin about the teachers’ welfare and their family’s welfare?
Why night sessions? Were the head teachers afraid to speak up against the decision on behalf of their subordinates, considering the risks? It is not right to dictate to the teachers and tell them to follow your schedule. Can the PEA Morobe look into this and reconsider his schedule?
