Training helps PNG testing win rating

Business

PAPUA New Guinea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (PNGLAS) has been recognised by the international community on laboratory accreditation.
This followed the successful completion of a week-long training course for its lead assessors.
PNGLAS is a structure that delivers accreditation certificates to testing laboratories nationally.
This function is crucial to ascertain that test or measuring equipment calibration results are reliable and can be compared to those produced by labs abroad.
Without this recognition, goods produced in PNG that are certified by our laboratories cannot compete equally with others.
The PNGLAS is hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Industrial Technology which recently received support from an EU-funded trade-related assistance programme being implemented by the Department of Commerce and Industry.
