Travel measure violates freedom

Letters

THE recent announcement by the National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning has sparked criticisms.
Many are against the Pandemic Act 2020, saying it is in violation of the Constitution’s Section 52 regarding the freedom of movement.
The controller’s decision, if misunderstood, is against the universal declaration of human rights article 13 (1).
Manning highlighted that domestic travel freedom may be accorded to people for under special circumstances.
The understanding here is that there will be no room for unnecessary domestic travel by plane.
Vaccination is still voluntary.
Restricting travel for unvaccinated people is a violation of human rights.
The interest of Papua New Guineans should be put first.

  • The reason for vaccination is to stop the spread of this virus or help slow down and put a stop to this pandemic.
