ELECTORAL Commissioner Andrew Trawen says the election data processing for this year’s election is nearing completion.
Preliminary rolls for most provinces have been released for public scrutiny.
These provinces included Central, Gulf, Milne Bay, National Capital District, Northern East New Britain, West New Britain, New Ireland, East Sepik, West Sepik, Morobe and Madang.
Trawen said 10 more provinces were in the data entry stage including the seven from the Highlands region, Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Manus and Western provinces.
“Data entry is progressing well and should be completed in the coming weeks,’’ he said in
a statement.
“Once completed the preliminary rolls will be printed and sent back for public display and objection. After that they will be finalised in time for polling scheduled for June 23.”
Trawen assured the country and all government departments and partners that the election was on schedule.
“The 2012 election is no different as our preparations are on schedule which include updating of electoral rolls, finalising of security operational plans, procurement of election logistics and other necessary requirements,” he said.
He also acknowledged the assistance of its international partners – Australia, New Zealand and South Korea – by providing expert advisors, election logistics and transport and communication.
