Trawen wants smooth counting in NCD

ELECTORAL Commissioner Andrew Trawen has requested National Capital District residents to ensure a smooth flow of counting for the three electorates.
During a media briefing at the PNG Institute of Public Administration, the venue for counting for Moresby Northwest, Trawen said he was happy with the progress of counting so far in the nation’s capital.
He said the incident involving the burning of ballot boxes on Sunday was being investigated by police and a report would be given to him once completed.
He also said Moresby Northwest returning officer Joseph Fraghi had not been suspended but stood down.
Fraghi would return to declare the winner of the Moresby Northwest seat, he added.
MAMOSE
Madang – There are few teams yet to be airlifted from polling locations in Middle Ramu, Usino-Bundi and Raicoast. This should be completed today or tomorrow.
East Sepik – All other electorates are progressing with counting expect for Angoram open electorate which is still awaiting payment for the counting venue. A cheque was raised yesterday for the hire.
West Sepik – All polling activities completed and counting will commence this week.
Morobe – One team in the Aseki area requires transportation. It should be done today. Counting continues for Nawaeb. Counts for Bulolo, Huon-Gulf, Markham, Finschhafen, Kabwum and Tewai-Siassi commenced yesterday. Counting for Lae is expected to start today and Menyamya on Wednesday.
HIGHLANDS
Chimbu – Polling continues. Of the 451 ballot boxes, 116 have been returned to counting centres. All remaining boxes are expected to be returned to secure storage. Provincial management team will focus on paying polling teams over the next two days.
Western Highlands – Preparations are underway for counting to commence today.
Enga – Counting for all the electorates in progress.
Hela – Counting to recommence today and will be correcting issues in the provincial count.
Southern Highlands – Counting in progress.
Eastern Highlands – Polling on Wednesday. Teams expected to commence moving into locations today.
Jiwaka – Ballot boxes remain in containers in Minj due to lack of transportation of equipment.
SOUTHERN
Western – One team in Morehead is expected to complete polling today and conclude all polling in Western province. Ballot boxes transported to Daru yesterday.
Gulf – One team at Toroba and one team at Kuru in  Kikori expected to complete polling yesterday.
Milne Bay – Polling completed. Open electorate counts expected to start today
NCD – Counting continues in all three open electorates and the provincial electorate.
Northern – Counting commenced for the two open and provincial electorate.
Central – Counting for the all the electorates commenced at Murray Barracks, Taurama Barracks and Kwikila Secondary School.
NGI
Bougainville – Count for South and Central open electorates expected to commence 6pm yesterday. Counting for North Bougainville open to wait until polling in the atolls completed.
Manus – Counting continues. PNG Electorate Commission headquarters remains in Manus.
East New Britain – Counting commenced yesterday.
West New Britain – Counting continues.
New Ireland – Counting for all the electorates continues.
