THE business sector has a vital role to play in preparing for coronavirus and minimising the spread of this pandemic virus, Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey says.
Ling-Stuckey, in a statement, said the business sector had a part in considering how it could best continue serving the interests of its customers as well as the workers.
“Decisions by business leaders will have a major impact on how badly Covid-19 may affect the economy,” he said.
“Some areas of business are likely to be severely affected by the economic impacts of the coronavirus.
“I have reached out to the business sector to listen to their current and likely actions in response to Covid-19.
“I will be interested to know how they are sharing their own ideas across the business community.”
Ling-Stuckey said responding to coronavirus would take national effort and caring decisions by every citizen and community.
He will hold discussions with selected business organisations from larger businesses, small to medium enterprise sector and the rural enterprise representatives – the farmers.
“The 2019 supplementary budget and 2020 Budget has demonstrated that the Government can make important and hard decisions to deal with economic crisis,” he said.
