Trials helpful: Isou coach

PREPARATION for the new Digicel Cup franchise Gulf Isou is key, says coach Colin Geno.
After two trial games, the new kids on the block are now in a better position to finalise a team for the Digicel Cup season.
The Isou won their first trial against Hela Wigmen 16-10 and then went down to the Port Moresby Vipers 30-12 in their second trial last week.
In the two trials Geno identified areas of improvement such as overall consistency, ball handling affection possession and set completions as well as the kicking game and defence.
“Handling errors have increased compared to the last trial we had against the Hela Wigmen even though we’re trying out our entire squad,” Geno said
“We fielded 20 players against the Wigmen and this weekend against the Port Moresby Vipers we ran the rest of the squad.
“We wanted to see where we are and the trial matches gives us the best idea of what team to pick for the season.
“We probably had about five guys who played in both trials so you see we really have a lot of positions up for grabs.”
