TWO members of Wewak Triathlon Club in East Sepik have been selected to participate in the Under-23 and U18 Youth Development Triathlon camp in Lisbon, Portugal in August-September this year.

The two are coach Otto Wafia and athlete Casmer Kamangip.

The two will be trained by some of the sports top trainers in Portugal for 9 days before a youth triathlon championships event.

Immediately after that, they will then fly to London for the World Triathlon Championships there.

ITU will be funding a large part of this trip with some assistance from PNG Sports Federation.  All other costs in cluding visa application fees will be met by the two.

Event Coordinator for Triathlon PNG Stephen Damien urged all the sportsman and women to congratulate these two men on their nomination and also to the Wewak Triathlon Club for preparing these fine youth athletes.

Damien said this is the first time PNG has received an invitation for the World Championship, and glad that PNG Triathlon have picked athletes from Wewak – the home of triathlon in PNG to take part.
