Tribal fighting splits village

Letters

Tribal fighting is continuing in Pawabi Village in Central, East of Kagua, and has claimed four lives.
Properties worth thousands of kina have been destroyed and many families have fled, including the pastors of the Bible Missionary Church.
The violence started between two brothers and split the entire tribe. The lives lost is unwarranted. Many people in the area have also succumbed to diseases and hunger and some have died.
It is time Kagua-Erave MP Wesley Raminai takes urgent measures to address this long-running issue. This is the heart of Kagua Central.
It is time the people of Seka Tea, Yamapi, Parinda, Katiloma, Pawapi, and Wake thrash out their differences and hold a proper peace talk. I appeal to Wesley Raminai, PPC Supt for SHP, and Governor William Powi to step in.
Kagua-Erave and, especially, Kulumbu is known for its peace-loving and God-fearing people.
But because of the differences between the two individuals, common sense went out of the window.
