THREE teams started their 2013 campaign on a high note as NCD Public Servants Soccer competition kicked off at the PNG Institute of Public Administration (PNGIPA) Oval, at the weekend.

Reigning premiers, Wantoks, Simla and host team PNGIPA got off to flying starts with wins.

Wantoks, the feeder club of the NSL champions, Hekari United, belted City United 3-1.

The 2012 NCD runners-up, Wantoks never looked back from the start of the whistle to overpower City United.

Simla led by Seriba brothers Brett (striker), Jun (midfielder) and, Jerry (goalkeeper) have sounded an early warning that they are no longer competition’s push overs.

The Trobriand Island club recruited well during the offseason by snaring Toru Turia, from the Munkgas club of the Port Moresby Soccer Association. He combined well with Rickson Max to get the three competition points.

Last year’s finalists Yamaros Lions suffered a setback drawing with Buria 2-2 while Morata Roots drew with Tarangau by the same score to complete the A-League fixtures.

Match coordinator Paul Isorua reminded clubs to pay their dues as soon as possible.

Results: Simla 1 Musa 0, Buria 2 Lions 2, Roots 2 Tarangau 2, PNGIPA 1 Murat 0, Wantoks 3 City 1.
