ONE of the accused in a K1.2 million robbery at the TropicAir loading shed in Port Moresby in 2016 has been committed to stand trial in the Waigani National Court.
Desmond Mantane, from Boana, Morobe, was charged with armed robbery where he was alleged to have been the getaway driver of the gang that stole K1.2 million belonging to RH Group of Companies.
Waigani Committal Court magistrate Cosmas Bidar found sufficient evidence against Mantane and committed him to face trial.
Bidar gave orders that Mantane appear for listing at the National Court on Feb 18 and remain on bail until the case was finalised.
The robbery took place on Nov 3, 2016, when three people armed with factory-made pistols held up TropicAir staff at the loading shed and took the money which was bound for East New Britain.
There were a number of people involved the robbery.
Some have already been caught and committed to trial.
