WEST Sepik police commander Robert Gesa almost had an accident when a truck loaded with logs suddenly appeared in front of him on the road near Vanimo.
Gesa said the truck was travelling from a logging area in Bewani to the shipment point in Vanimo at around 7pm on Monday.
“The truck had no lights on and almost hit my vehicle. I ordered the driver to take the truck straight to the police station and we impounded it.”
Gesa said the driver had since been charged with driving a defective vehicle. Meanwhile a town resident said a truck loaded with logs was set on fire by angry relatives of a girl it had hit on the road.
