THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League selection policy in focuses solely only elite players in the professional leagues.
PNGRFL chairman Sandis Tsaka reiterated the league’s stance on picking players to play for the country.
Tsaka said the policy was in place regardless of the form of players at the domestic level (Digicel Cup).
With the annual Prime Ministers 13 fixture against Australia now given test status, players from the country’s top tier competition would not have that match to look forward to.
“Only players from the NRL, UK Super League,Q-Cup and NSW Cup will be considered because we want to set a standard,” Tsaka said of the competitions focused on.
Tsaka said the Digicel Cup players would be given other opportunities for representative honours.
