Cabinet has reappointed Peter Tsiamalili Jr, pictured, as chief executive of the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation for the next four years.
Public Services Minister Elias Kapavore told The National that the appointment was based on a strong recommendation from the sports vice-minister.
“I’d like to confirm and clarify all kinds of speculation on who should be appointed,” Kapavore said.
“Tsiamalili has now been reappointed and a gazettal has been released on the appointment, so it’s for the people there to work with him.
“It’s for them to establish important key performance indicators (KPIs) and key result areas (KRAs) for the CEO to come in and support.
“There is a new board in place and it’s now for them to work together to understand each other and establish a way forward in terms of meeting the requirements of the foundation.
“There are a lot of important things happening so it’s a government commitment to ensure we provide the necessary support, and we ask for continuity and stability.”
Kapavore said the Department of Personnel Management was now emphasising on the KPIs and KRAs to measure their performance every year.
“If they are not satisfied with the performance, they can always recommend for change we can make out a decision later on,” he said.
