WAGHI Tumbe franchise chairman Paul Tumun says he is happy with the form of his team at the end of the Digicel Cup regular season.
The Jiwaka Government-sponsored side won nine matches from 11 rounds.
Tumbe finished the regular season on the same competition points as minor premiers Lae Tigers and Mendi Muruks, who both finished ahead because of their superior points differential.
Tumun told The National yesterday that his men had aimed to finish second on the 12-team competition ladder, however, a third-placed finish was still a good achievement.
“To finish third with the same competition points as the Tigers and Muruks is a good result for us,” he said.
“We didn’t finish well last season but to come back strongly this season is something to be proud of as a club.
“After winning our season opener against Rabaul Gurias, we lost two-straight matches but we bounced back in round four against the Vipers.
“Since then, we have registered eight-straight wins.”
