Tumbe out for revenge on defending champions

WAGHI Tumbe say they will be out for revenge when they face defending champions Tigers in their Digicel Cup opener at the Lae Rugby League Ground on Sunday (3.30pm kick-off).
Tumbe were on the brink of making the grand final but their title hopes were shattered with a 12-20 loss to the Stanley Tepend-coached side in the major semifinal.
“We narrowly went down twice to the Tigers last season and the major semifinal loss was heartbreaking,” Tumbe chairman Paul Tumun told The National yesterday.
“But this time around we are in a better position.
“Coach Joe McConnor and his staff have identified where we went wrong against the defending champions and I believe it’ll be different game altogether. They have Kumuls and SP Hunters players but that will not distract us.”
