AFTER winning the National Capital District Governor’s Cup the Inter Oil Turagus squad were trimmed down to 20 from the previous 28 including three overseas-based players for the Hong Kong Sevens from April 8-10.

National coach Douglas Guise said the squad would be cutdown to 12 prior to departure and after a proposed trip to Fiji next month. Guise said the Turagus only came into the camp a week before the Governor’s Cup and it was encouraging to see them perform, showing good fitness and skills level.

“We still have a lot to do but the players coming in to camp have shown good fitness and skill levels but we need to push them harder in their fitness and games awareness in the time we have before the Hong Kong sevens,” Guise said.

He encouraged the players to maintain their fitness and focus in the lead up to the final selection.

The new players to make their debut, if selected, are John Naime, Toby Toally, Joseph Mocke, Emil Latumahina, Gairo Kapana, Tekila Kini, Navu Nope and Bradley Kelegai of Brisbane.
