Tusbab aim to conquer Wagsford in grand final

THE Madang Soccer Association A-League grand final tomorrow will see two of the most consistent teams vying for the title.
Tusbab Blue Kumuls finished the season as minor premiers, ahead of Wagsford.
Finishing the competition at the top of the table was not easy.
In round one, Tusbab won six matches and drew three — a record for the club — to bag 21 points.
Wagsford won four games, drew three and lost twice to secure 15 points.
The second round saw a number of teams stepping up in the race for the minor premiership.
It was a struggle for the Blue Kumuls in the second round after losing four players to national duties.
The absence of Stahl Gubag, Kimson Kapai, Freeman Giwi, Ricky Wadunah and Graham Berigami left a big void when they travelled with the national side to Tahiti for the Ocenia Football Confederation U20 Championship.
Despite the struggle, coach Rachel Wadunah played her cards right to summon the services of her four U16 players in Jesse Mandari, Jason Akaya Wadunah, Morris Devi and Butler Bossi Hosea to fill in the void and it paid dividends for the team.
The Blue Kumuls and Wagsford are rivals on the field.
The two teams faced each other in round one, with the Blue Kumuls walking away 4-1 winners.
The Blue Kumuls inflicted more pain on the Wagol Pikus compound outfit, beating them 4-0 in the second round.
The Blue Kumuls, favourites to win the grand final, will rely on the experience of Max Sengum, Gubag and Ricky to secure the win but they will have to work extra hard to shut down Wagsford’s Darren Steven and Francis Kawol in the midfield.
Despite lacking experience, Wagsford coach Darrel Ken has a pool of quality players to choose from.
This will be a game of experience against youth on the field and man versus woman in the coaching role.
