Tusbab Blue Kumuls win all divisions

The Tusbab Blue Kumuls were crowned champions of the Madang Soccer Association pre-season in all three divisions.
In the men’s division, the Blue Kumuls beat Pendamon 5-2 in a thrilling penalty shootout. In the women’s division, the Blue Kumuls beat Nabasa 1-0 and in the Under-16s, they beat Mimlon 2-0.
The Blue Kumuls won K3000, with K1000 given to each division by sponsors Rookes Marine.
Blue Kumuls skipper Grahan Berigami said although the club missed the services of their regular players, they gave their best shot and came away winners.
“Most of our key players were busy with National Soccer League duties with Madang FC and Besta PNG, but we managed to play well and win,” Berigami said.
The presentation ceremony after the game saw Rookes Marine and other sponsors commended for their continuous support towards soccer in the Madang province.
Rookes Marine’s Paul Rookes told association president Siegfried Beschel that the company was happy to support youth soccer development.
Beschel commended Rookes Marine for its support.
Other sponsors include Sigma Construction, Madang Resort, Kuima Security Service and the Madang urban local-level government.
“It is very hard to get support from sponsors in Madang, so any form of assistance is commendable,” Beschel said.
