THE long-awaited fifth series of Wan Smolbag’s popular TV series Love Patrol was premiered yesterday at the Paradise Cinema in Vision City, Port Moresby.
Produced with financial support from AusAID, Love Patrol 5 follows exciting storylines involving many of the characters from previous series as well as some new ones.
The idea behind the series was to introduce ideas and information about HIV and reproductive health in an exciting drama, so that people will learn.
Present for the launching were the stars of the series Helen Kailo and Noel Aru.
Helen Kailo, a 21-year-old from Vanuatu and Manus, represents the character of Christine David who is a lawyer and the wife of a business man.
She described her character as a woman who is very strong because she was always being mistreated by her husband.
“It was very hard for me to depict the character as she was older than I am and had a characteristics so different from mine,” said Helen
She said Love Patrol helped her to understand sensitive issues such as HIV and reproductive health.
The latest series again captures development issues and challenges relevant to Pacific Island nations. As with previous series, Love Patrol 5 will serve as an important educational resource for schools and communities throughout the region.
