EMTV has made a successful transition to the virtual studios concept for its flagship programme, the nightly news bulletin, from May 1

“This process was something that required a lot of planning, training, investment and teamwork,” Media Niugini Ltd chief executive officer Bhanu Sud said on Tuesday.

“The transition to the virtual studios technology is something that we have now completed in Papua New Guinea and it is the first of its kind in the Pacific Islands region.”

In addition to the set, Sud said EMTV personnel also reviewed bulletin graphics, general flow of information, weather and currency information to ensure it was informative.

“In merging all of these changes, EMTV also successfully leveraged its partnership with CNN International to allow the station to run a CNN news ticker on-screen to ensure up-to-date international and national news headlines during the presentation of its bulletin,” Sud said.

“Bringing all of these elements together every night at 6pm is a monumental challenge, but one that our staff accomplish every day.

“With the complete transition of our 6pm news presentation, EMTV will look at other changes in locally-produced programmes to ensure that the station stays at the forefront of television broadcasting in PNG.”
