The National, Monday July 14th, 2014
TWENTY financial institutions have been confirmed to participate in this year’s financial inclusion expo in Kokopo this week.
The Bank of Papua New Guinea said they would be showcasing their products and services.
The expo provides an avenue that creates awareness on the new and existing financial products and delivery channels with emphasis on opening new savings accounts for the unbanked, including youths, school children and women.
The institutions would conduct free financial literacy training for the public during the expo.
The bank, in collaboration with key stakeholders, development partners and donor agencies, would host the five-day event from July 16-20 coinciding with the Warwagira Mask Festival.
The hosting of the Financial Inclusion Expositions and other financial inclusion initiatives are undertaken as part of the PNG National Strategy for Financial Inclusion and Financial Literacy 2014-2015 (the Strategy) that was launched by former Treasurer Don Polye last December.
