Two charged with Parinjo’s death

POLICE have charged two men with the murder of Wewak police station commander, Snr InspCharles Parinjo on Feb 25.
Officers in East Sepik province charged two men from a village in Wewak.
Provincial police commander Chief Supt Joe Poma said the two suspects from Saure village were Israel Neriku, 21, and Benjamin Bandiuro, 22.
They were charged with wilful murder yesterday and expected to appear before the Wewak District Court for mention later this week.
Parinjo was killed at Kaindi when he tried to clear drunkards obstructing traffic on the highway there.
Meanwhile, police reported a hit-and-run incident at Amuk River, Maprik, last Wednesday.
Poma said a pedestrian was walking along the road when he
was hit and killed by a vehicle.
The victim, a local from the area, was identified as Yangamis Hula, 50.
Poma said the province had been relatively quiet, with only minor offences reported from the weekend to yesterday.
