Two detained over Parinjo’s killing
POLICE have identified two key suspects in the killing of Wewak police station commander Snr Insp Charles Parinjo at Kaindi on Feb 25.
Provincial police commander Joe Poma said the two were among 15 men rounded up by police after the killing.
The other 13 have been released.
Supt Poma said detectives were trying to verify the statements the two men had given them.
Parinjo was killed when he tried to remove some drunkards obstructing traffic on the highway that night.
Meanwhile, Wewak police have picked up four suspects in connection with the killing of a teenager at Yawasoro during the Easter weekend.
Poma said the four were believed to be with the victim on the night he was murdered.
Police are also investigating a report of rape at Timbunke village in the Middle Sepik area last weekend.
Poma said a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a relative after her parents left for Wewak before easter.
