Two die in car accident

TWO people are dead after the vehicle they were travelling in ran off the road and into the railings of a bridge in Popondetta, Northern, on Wednesday.
According to acting provincial police commander Snr Insp Tojune Silas ,the vehicle was travelling into Popondetta town from Girua Airport when the driver lost control.
“The vehicle, a twin-cab Toyota Hilux, had four people on board,” he said.
“The vehicle hit a rail, the rail went through the bonnet of the car, hitting the passenger sitting in front and at the back (on that side),” he said.
“A woman sitting at the back was struck with such force that she was thrown from the vehicle.
“She died instantly.
“The passenger in front died on arrival at the Popondetta General Hospital.”
“The driver was apprehended, with police investigating the case.”
Snr Insp Silas said the relatives of the woman who was killed, blocked off the road to Girua Airport and demanded for the police to ensure the driver was charged.
He said the relatives demanded compensation for the woman’s death.
“The driver paid for food items and gave K5,000 in cash,” Snr Insp Silas said.
