TWO-MILE United notched a grand final berth with an 18-10 victory against women’s minor premiers Gabutu Dragons in the Moresby South Rugby League competition at Moresby South Stadium on Sunday.
Fellow maiden grand finalists Sub City Raiders beat Joyce Bay Roosters 12-6.
Papua New Guinea representatives (Orchid) Janet John and (Palai) Jill Yalon as well as NIsella Ravu and Gai Gola contributed tries, and Lancy Laki converted a goal.
It was the result of an excellent defence and swift attack which unsettled Gabutu.
Halfback Laki and hooker Lisa Bina led United’s attack and created inroads against the flat-footed Dragons.
Jafinda Sap crossed over for two tries and converted one of them in a performance that lacked support from her Gabutu teammates.
Meanwile, Raiders’ Annamex Tu’u, Esther Peter and Angela Hoki each bagged a try, and Roosters Rose King’s four-pointer was converted by Boio Peter.
Raiders took an 8-0 lead at halftime.
The second half was an even contest, but Raiders captain Flora Yanu, Keli Peter, Hernie Weki, Daisy Nick and Mini Peter combined well to see out the win.
According to the league, the women’s champions will receive the Justin Tkatchenko Cup and K10,000 while the runners-up will claim K5,000.
