Two new judges appointed

CHAIRMAN of the Judicial and Legal Services Commission and Attorney-General Ano Pala has announced the appointment of two new judges to serve in the National and Supreme Courts.
Pala in a statement said the permanent appointments of William Neil and Robert Lee Lindsay allowed for the increase in delivering justice services to the people.
He said Neil and Lindsay possessed the required experience and were appointed on their own merits.
“The commission was satisfied that each of them fulfilled the requirements for judicial appointment,” Pala said.
Neil from New South Wales, Australia was appointed for a term of three years as a National and Supreme Court judge.
Neil was admitted to practice law in PNG in 1970 and has gained extensive experience as a civil and commercial litigation lawyer.
Neil was a senior lawyer with Ashurst law firm at the time of his appointment.
Lindsay, from Goodenough in Milne Bay was appointed for a 10-year term to serve as judge in the National and Supreme Courts.
Lindsay graduated from the University of PNG law school in 2000 and was admitted to the bar in 2001.
He has practised law for over 14 years, mostly in the private sector.
