TWO men were killed last week at 14-Mile outside Lae, by angry local residents because of their alleged repeated harassment and rape of women in the community, Morobe police say.
Police Commander (PPC) Supt Alex N’Drasal said the deceased had committed various offences starting in 2018 and met their fates as frustrated members of the community took action.
Supt N’Drasal said the pair’s offences were not reported until last year when a complaint was made but they managed to evade capture by police and this had incensed the community.
He said police were investigating the deaths.
In another crime report, police in Bulolo are monitoring a fight that broke out between the people of Nambisha and Sahi villages in Upper Waria, Garaina local level government.
Police said the fight started last week when a boy from Sahi was allegedly killed by suspects from Nambisha.
Situation is tense with police monitoring the area.
Supt N’Drasal also reported that on Monday, a fight broke out at Markham Bridge’s Zero Block resulting in a man being killed.
He said police were yet to establish the cause of the fight and were monitoring the area and talked to the two factions involved in the fight.
“Vehicles going in and out of the block were stoned and people were harassed but quick intervention by police has cooled down the situation,” he said.
In another murder case reported in Watut, Bulolo, police allegedly shot and killed a young man last week.
Supt N’Drasal said police went to Watut after reports of road users being harassed along the Menyamya-Bulolo Highway.
“Drunk youths started stopping vehicles and stoning them so a patrol unit was deployed there.”
He said police managed to arrest several and one was allegedly shot in the leg while trying to escape.
“Unfortunately, he (deceased) was not brought to the hospital quickly resulting in him dying of loss of blood.”
Supt N’Drasal said the shooting was being investigated.

  • Killing or taking away life of a human being is not our duty but its GOD’s duty alone because a human being is owned by God and is the property of God so whoever is doing things wrong in our society in the first instances must be reported to the Police and have the incident investigated and suspects arrested, charged and brought before the court by the Police to be prosecuted.

  • I totally agree with the comment above. Did police got training for shooting or to safe the lives of the people. Any crime should be arrested and charged. Not for shooting. You are law abiding police for the safely of the people.
