TWO men allegedly involved in the killing of a seminary student last Sunday in Lae, are being questioned by police.

The driver of the bus from which student Kewa Michael was thrown out of is still on the run, Lae police operations commander Insp Fred Kaiwa said.

Kaiwa said the two men were picked up from East Taraka where they resided after the bus owner with the assistance of the community surrendered them to police.

Michael was travelling in a bus from the Back Road area to Bumayong when he was allegedly hit with an object on the head and thrown off the vehicle following a scuffle.

This happened after he attempted to rescue a female passenger who was allegedly being assaulted by the men in the moving PMV between 5pm and 6pm.

Kaiwa said: “I met with the Bumayong community yesterday (Monday) afternoon and informed them about the arrest and they were happy. They promised not to do attack PMVs.”

Kaiwa said the residents of Bumayong had informed him that they were preparing a petition to present to Morobe Governor Kelly Naru about bus services in the city and other outstanding issues regarding ethnic fights which erupted last year.
