The National, Thursday January 9th, 2014
TWO women have been arrested by Kundiawa police after they were allegedly caught making homebrew.
The officers who caught them were part of a special operation called Weedim Grass which targeted homebrew makers. The team was led by Det Yatefa Wellis.
They acted on a tip-off and went to Yuai village where they caught the two women in the process of making home-brew. The officers found 300 litres of homebrew.
Chimbu rovincial police commander, Supt Augustine Wampe said it was rare to find women involved in homebrew production.
Wampe said the team would continue to crack down on people producing homebrew and drugs.
He is appealing to those involved in the production of the illegal substances to stop before the law caught up with them.
