IT WILL be a case of power versus speed when Laudanu’s unbeaten run this season is tested by U-Mi Yet in the women’s A Grade top-of-the table clash in the NCD Volleyball Association at the Taurama Aquatic Centre on Saturday.
Laudanu is top of the competition table on 24 points followed by U-Mi Yet on 20 points after eight games and this match — the last game of round one — will test the Kilakila girls’ strength across the court.
Laudanu’s strength is their speed with good ball control, with Mabata Garia, Beau Rabura, Kay Garia, Toua Vagi, Julie Rabura and Hure Hanua expected make sure that the third balls are played safe over to the opposition side.
Their opponents U-Mi Yet have Christine Maino, Lauren George, Viola Unatah, Margarete Oii-Meve, Valarie Oii-Meve, Ruben and Sopo Alsop with setter, Samuella Terrence, who can smash balls and it will be a different ball game.
U-Mi Yet have good float service and if they execute well, they should give Laudanu their first taste of defeat on Saturday.
The selection of a team and officials for the national championships, to be held during the Independence anniversary weekend in September, will be announced soon.
