UBUA made a clean sweep in Dabunari volleyball winning the A, women’s A and B grades grand final crowns on Saturday in convincing fashion.
In the A grade, Ubua defeated arch rivals Mogu 3-2 while in the women’s A grade best setter award winner and captain Vagi Bore led Ubua to crush Mogu 3-1.
Mogu thought the win was in the bag when they won the first set 25-18 with their key players Maimu Aruna, Baeau Garme, Tetei Aruna, Dabu Iava and Nellie Iava on fire.
But the fire was put out in the next three sets when Vagi and her teammates regrouped and won the remaining sets, 25-21 (2nd set), 25-18 (3rd set) and 22-11 (4th set).
Player of the match Biai Tuamu, Iori Tau, twin sisters Glenda and Gabuga Futi, Maiegi Miamu combined well with Vagi to come from behind and win the match.
The B grade match was fought right down to the wire with Ariva Knights pushing Ubua to the final set.
But, Ubua had the last laugh winning thanks to David Eru’s spikes which played a huge part.
