Umbrella group sought for youths

A GROUP of youth organisations and stakeholders came together to form a youth network aimed at progressing youth issues in PNG.
The Voice Inc board chairperson Serena Sumanop said the purpose of the meeting was to put purpose into action. The meeting was the initiative of The Voice Inc, a youth development that works towards building a sense of purpose in the lives of young people, increase their confidence and create avenues for them to contribute to their communities.
“We have worked with the students in the national universities in providing leadership development programmes for the past 10 years,” Sumanop said.
“We saw a need to reach out of the university campuses to other young people.”
More than 20 youth organisations came together to explore the idea of forming a youth coalition to progress youth issues in the country.
“There is a youth body already in place and that is the National Youth Development Authority and they have shown great interest in working together with the youth coalition,” The Voice Inc staff Kirk Gibson said.
