UN experts in country to help Parliament on infotech

THE UN experts have visited Papua New Guinea to provide technical and strategic advice to the Parliament and Bougainville House of Representatives to improve Information and Communication Technology (ICT) use.
Senior ICT advisers Gerry Kessell-Haak and Richard Coombe met with Parliamentary staff in Port Moresby and Buka to review and assess the existing ICT infrastructure and conduct meetings with staff about the requirements of their jobs. The experts have started to develop cost of ICT assessment report with timetables, which will help to implement new ICT strategies.
Acting Speaker Aide Ganasi thanked and welcomed the UNDP for facilitating the exercise. “Any assistance given to improve ICT infrastructure and processes will assist in achieving the Speaker’s Theo Zurenuoc’s vision to modernise Parliament, Ganasi said.
