UN official found dead in apartment

A CONSULTANT with the United Nations Development Programme was found dead in his residence at Ela Beach in Port Moresby on Saturday, police said.
Met Supt Perou N’dranou said the body of the deceased was found on the bed when police arrived at the scene in an apartment at the back of Ela Beach Hotel.
He said the incident occurred at 8pm on Saturday.
N’dranou said a UN security guard called the deceased that evening and there was no response, the guard then called the police.
When police arrived and broke down the door of the house, they found the deceased lying on the bed dead.
N’dranou also confirmed another death of a man last Thursday at Ela Beach, just opposite the Port Moresby Police Station.
N’dranou said the body of the deceased was found in the bushes at the back of the old Memorial Park at mid-day.
