Undefeated Brothers look to secure title

UNITED Brothers are confident of sealing the Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association fast-five tournament in this weekend’s final fixture after last week’s deferral.
Brothers, who are undefeated over the past five weekends, warned other teams that they would be tough to beat in the finals.
“We were of the opinion that the first team past the post after five weekends would be crowned as champions based on the number of wins,” coach Tony Daple said.
“We thought that we would be the champions.
“But we were told that we would face the second-placed team.”
He said he was thrilled about his side’s unbeaten streak.
“I’m impressed with the team’s performance, women and men,” Daple said.
“But our batting and fielding this weekend need to be on point.”
He said this week’s preparations were based on batting to ensure they scored more points in the innings.
Daple said he was expecting his senior players to lead the team this weekend.
“We want to do some hitting and drills to make sure that we are focused on the job,” he said.
“I have several good players, women and men, who we expect to step up.
“There are several teams that we should watch out for.
“But Brothers are also a team worth watching.
“We’re led by captain Tony Williams as well as senior players Eddie Chan and Ora Gime,” Daple said ahead of the finals this weekend.
