KOROBA-Lake Kopiago MP Philip Undialu has given the Kemele Hela Wigmen K50,000 reasons to register a win in the Digicel Cup rugby league competition.

While winning is not the main drive for the franchise at this stage, Undialu has honoured part of his K100,000 commitment made recently.

Undialu, pictured, said he was confident the Wigmen would bring hope to aspiring youths from Hela.

“Young men from Hela aspire to play top level rugby league and after so many years we have been given a life-line,” he said.

“It may not happen this year but this commitment will ensure that the Wigmen entity is given fuel to drive that message of hope over the next few years.”

Undialu said he would present the second K50,000 when the Wigmen did coaching clinics in his electorate.

Wigmen chairman Andy Hetra said the sponsorship would go a long way in building up the franchise.

“We are still an infant and cannot expect miracles but we can assure fans and supporters of Hela Wigmen that we will become better and stronger as the game progresses,” Hetra said.

The newcomers to the semi-professional competition have yet to smile after going through the first four rounds without a win.
