Unequal distribution of services in Finschhafen

Letters, Normal

I AM disappointed with the distribution of government services in Finschhafen, Morobe.
I understand that our MP Theo Zurenuoc did a splendid job by utilising the funds allocated to the district under the JDBPC to upgrade and improve basic services within the district.
However, I am disappointed with the way the delivery of these services was carried out.
For almost 10 years, people living in the hinterlands of Upper and Lower Mape, Hube and Burum-Kuat LLGs have been deprived of basic services such as roads and health care because the district administration employed wrong people to do the job.
They also concentrated the delivery of these services from the coastal areas to the Uzaing area and following the main Pindiu highway, neglecting the people living beyond these areas.
People in the Pindiu, Mindik, Burum, Upper Mape and Dedua have not seen services for years.
This is a disgrace because the MPs had forgotten the people who gave them the mandate.
The road between Uzaing, Pindiu, Mindik and Burum has deteriorated until it became a bush track, forcing the people to carry heavy cargoes on their backs and walking for miles.
I call on Zurenuoc to upgrade and seal the road so that we can bring our garden produce to the market to sell and sustain our livelihood.
The road will also give us access to other essential basic services like health care.
It is time the member pay attention on those of us living in the mountains too.
