Uneven use of funds
The National, Wednesday July 2nd, 2014
KAPAO local level government council president Jackty Yotipo is concerned about the uneven distribution of district services improvement funding in four council areas in Menyamya.
The four local level governments include Kapao and Nanema-Kareba in Aseki, Wapi and Kome in Menyamya.
Yotipo questioned district administrator Miseck Wawongo why MP Benjamin Philip was spending more for Wapi and Kome and disregarding Kapao and Nanema-Kareba.
“This is totally unfair and deprives rural Kapao and Nanema-Kareba people from benefitting from public funds.
“We are also part of Menyamya district and Papua New Guinea who sweat to contribute to the national coffers through our organic coffee.
“Why is the MP disregarding Kapao and Nanema-Kareba students from benefiting from the district’s education scholarship programme while sponsoring Kome and Wapi students only?” Yotipo said.
Yotipo raised the queries in front of provincial education minister Andrew Gena, Kapao LLG manager Awape Nande, district education coordinator Ron Tanakai, Wawongo and community leaders at the opening of Okenaiwa Elementary School on Monday.
No comment could be obtained from Philip.
