Unfair treatment

Letters

THERE is an unfair treatment rife in the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) where aviation documents (pilots’ and engineers’ licenses) issued to foreigners in a much quicker process than the PNG citizens.
When it comes to issuing of these licenses, it seems that there are two separate procedures; one for the foreigners and the other for PNG citizens.
These are foreign licenses which were supposed to meet PNG requirements according to its relevant regulations regardless of oneself – whether being a pilot or engineer.
Established procedures are there to adhere to but it has been violated to promote wantokism which will definitely compromise aviation safety.
An internal investigation should be conducted to determine these malpractices and recommendation should be made to rid such practices.
CASA should start employing competent PNG citizens to occupy these positions held by foreigners.
I don’t know why we keep on employing foreigners where we have surplus of over-qualified person of the same position.
Take back PNG.
