WITH finals around the corner premier rivals will continue the fight for spots in the top four of the Capital Rugby Union competition this weekend.

Defence will go up against the University Piggies.

The barracks men will be led by Pukpuk reserve halfback Liebert Suang and gun centre Kirarock  “Rocky” Ngaffin.

Defence’s pack must gain parity with Uni for Suang to snipe effectively around the rucks.

Riding on last weekend’s victory over Spartans when they thrashed them 68-0, Piggies know very well that this encounter will not be as one-sided.

The Piggies midfield will have a big say on the fortunes of the men in sky blue.

Flyhalf Koini Kidi, Jackson nuggety halfback Jackson Pato and inside centre Raymond Romalus must use the momentum provided by an imposing pack.

Piggies’ Wesley Thomas, Willie Rikis, Tui Fifiato and George Hoki dominated the Spartans pack and will be expected to do the same against Defence.

In the other match, Brothers and Juggernauts have their finals fate  in their own hands with the winner of this a realistic chance of snaring fifth spot.

Juggernauts, who are currently in seventh spot will have to rally to beat Brothers after getting a 47-3 walloping last week courtesy of Nova.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Nova should beat a Spartans side starting to show the signs of wear and tear after a gruelling season.

But victory may not come as easily for Nova as they will be going up against a team that has proven to be real competitiors who push sides for the full 80.

Playmaker Jason Larry will have a major influence on the game.

In the other match, Wanderers meet Lasallians in the last match.

All women’s teams are on bye this weekend while the final round of the competition will see outstanding games played before the finals kick off.
