THE University of Technology has been granted K2 million to renovate its Telikom College, according to vice-chancellor Dr Ora Renagi.
The Government granted the university K2 million from the public investment programme fund for this project.
But Unitech’s submission to the National Executive Council to transfer ownership of Telikom College to the university did not receive any response yet.
“But we look into the horizon with the thinking of the Government to renovate the Telikom College so we can use the college to deliver our programmes and make use of accommodation there as well,” Dr Renagi said.
He said their “funding status has not changed with the challenges of our economy and the Government”. “But Unitech is comfortable to again commit resources to improve our academic delivery, to ensure that our facilities are maintained.” Dr Renagi said the Covid-19 pandemic had compelled the university to deliver classes online.
“It has given the experience for staff to prepare online delivery of their courses and we are now preparing policy the need to acquire resources to set up facilities for Unitech.”
