Union of parties a political gimmick

Letters

THE Pangu Pati and United Labour Party’s (ULP) political marriage is a political gimmick.
The Pangu Pati leadership and all national and provincial party executives are holding onto office illegally and they cannot claim to be speaking or signing anything on behalf of the party.
There was never a Pangu Pati national convention held to date to endorse the party leader and election of the national president etc as stipulated under the party’s constitution.
We suspect Prime Minister James Marape has created his own political history by signing a rushed political marriage with the ULP in fear of losing political power in the 2022 national elections.
In previous national elections, Pangu Pati has taken a ‘friends to all, enemies to none’ approach without fear or favour, allowing voters to decide the outcome through the ballot boxes.
Then they negotiate with other political parties to form coalition governments.
The recent signing of Pangu Pati and ULP political marriage has painted an unrealistic and unbelievable scenario in Pangu Pati and PNG’s political history.
ULP party leader Sam Basil was a former Pangu Pati leader who deserted the party.
Basil has realised that Pangu supporters in Bulolo, especially Buang will walk out on him and ULP in 2022 simply because Buang is the birth place of Pangu Pati.
Morobe has given Pangu Pati eight MPs to Sam Basil in the 2017 election believing him to be the next prime minister after Peter O’Neill.
However, he has failed us very badly. Pangu Pati and Marape should keep away from ULP or face nightmares in the 2022 polls.
We are the Pangu Pati.

  • James Marape should take above advice to heart and reconsider your Pangu’s marriage with Basil and his ULP.
