THE Trade Union Congress and the Police Association have called on Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga to “come clear” on statements he made in the media last Thursday regarding instructions he allegedly issued to have Chief Supt Fred Yakasa arrested.
Congress president Michael Malabag alleged that an “operation order” from the NCD-Central Assistant Commissioner of Police, Francis Tokura, had ordered the arrest of Yakasa, contradicting a public assurance made by Kulunga that there would be no arrests made.
Malabag said this was a serious issue and Kulunga must explain the contradictions.
Police Association general secretary Clemence Kanau said Kulunga’s public assurance did not reflect what was stated in the order.
