A GROUP of University of Technology graduates have been told to look to the future positively and dream big.
National Planing and Monitoring Minister Richard Maru told more than 600 graduates to lead others “along the path of good conduct and ethical behaviour”.
“Do not be afraid to dream big. Go and develop a culture and attitude that everything you touch will be better than you have found it,” he said.
“Go set the world alight. Leave your mark and leave your legacy behind.”
The 50th graduation ceremony was held at the university campus in Lae on Friday.
The graduates were from the 13 departments plus the Bulolo University College, the Post-Graduate School and Datec Learning Centre.
There were 37 who received their PhDs, Master’s degree and postgraduate certificates.
Eight received a Diploma in Forestry, and 40 from the Datec Learning Centre received a Advanced Professional Diploma in Information Technology.
Maru said they must work hard and have the right attitude to work.
“You are entering the workforce at a time where challenges are great to meet the demands and needs of the existing population,” he said.
“We need to build a bigger and more stronger and resilient economy that is anchored in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and manufacturing.”
