THE University of Technology (Unitech) plans to establish a study centre in Honiara, Solomon Islands, within the next 12 months.
Chancellor Philip Stagg, vice-chancellor Dr Misty Baloiloi and a delegation from the university were in Honiara last week to start the process of establishing the study centre after it submits a detailed proposal to the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education (SICHE) next month.
Unitech will be the second PNG tertiary education to set up there after the University of Papua New Guinea’s study centre was officially opened by Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare.
At the opening event, both universities staged graduation ceremonies for their former students.
